I have this weird attraction to solo female artists in multiple genres.
Emmy Lou Harris, Neko Case, KT Tunstall, Madelyn Peyroux, Lucinda Williams, Regina Spektor, Amy Winehouse, Eva Cassidy, Sade and especially Chrissie Hynde are all in rotation on my playlist, pretty much constantly.

Because no one else in the house wants to hear it so I have to blast it when no one else is home... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rq4FFzDP8Ms&feature=autoplay&list=AVGxdCwVVULXfn1nOnl4JNTGxvKEEZRM9Y&index=6&playnext=6)

You Sexy Thing by Hot Chocolate -- made all the better when I was sitting in a bar in Cambridge MA years ago listening to the somewhat uninspiring house band and Kim Deal from the Pixies came in, got up on stage, belted it out, got back in her car and left... Awesome!

Who used to do those songs back in the seventies, where one guy would act as if he's interviewing someone famous and the responses to the questions would be snippets from pop songs?
I remember the concept of those songs and thought that they were clever, but I have no idea who used to do them. It's been ages since I've heard one.

I have so many!
I am finding myself really enjoying Mary J Blige.
Leonard Cohen is a guilty pleasure - on the one hand I know he's a ridiculously silly goof with questionable song writing talent most enjoyed by 20 year old college girls angry at their daddies - but sometimes he just hits the spot.
I really enjoy Fleetwood Mac.
I knew it was time to leave Florida when I found myself humming along to him, but I have to say - I enjoy Jimmy Buffet.
I think Beyonce is terrific.
There is some Kelly Clarkson that I heartily enjoy.
All of the awful late 80s/early 90s gangster rap that seemed fun to listen to while, uhhh, doing certain things in College.

I can't say I was surprised by the news that she was found dead in her London home. Classic tortured soul. Too bad no one close to her was able to help.

You have good taste, but you forgot Patti Smith.
We visited our son over 4th of July weekend in rural Arkansas and I picked up a copy of Patti Smith's "Wave" on vinyl at a thrift shop.
Good album, I might have to buy some more....

Nearly all of my music is by guy bands. But there are lots of good songs by girls like Gillian Welch ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nugXkgd_-84 ) and Iris Dement ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FikZwgj89HI ).

I can't help but rock out to Dirty Deeds. So good. Early 80s ACDC is great for letting off some steam. Oh that and the Black Crowes - love em.
No guilt over these, but Black Sabbath and my old hardcore punk collection when the moment strikes me.

My guilty pleasure music mostly consists of a lot of female vocalists. Frou Frou, Kate Havnevik, Portishead, St. Vincent, Florence + the Machine, Metric, The Sounds, Imogen Heap. And a whole bunch more. I could listen to them for days.
And System of a Down. I couldn't care less about the messages in their songs, but boy do I love the dis-harmony of the 2 lead singers.

Wait, why is that a "guilty pleasure" ? I would think most listeners would be proud to proclaim something so immaculately crafted yet heartfeltly performed as their fave.
