What is a new, as in never ridden, ten year old Litespeed Classic worth? It may be sparkling clean, but I think the seller is dreaming.

The bike is listed on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/LITESPEED-Classic-Campagnolo-titanium-LIVESTRONG-/220812729758?pt=Road_Bikes&hash=item336976dd9e).

I would give this bike some consideration, but not for anywhere near 3000 American dollars.

What do you think she's worth?

If it is indeed a brand-spankin'-new bike, with full Campy incl. wheels, then I happen to think $3K is in the ballpark.

New 3/2.5 ti frame: $2,000 (a new Archon is $4K)
Centaur group: $600
Vento wheels $400
Bars, stem, seatpost, saddle, cables and bits: $350
Tires and tubes: $75

That comes to about $3,425.

Sounds like the seller would take less than that, of course, by listing it with "OBO"

Just my $0.02. YMMV

And no bill of sale from a dealer. That is too much money in used mrkt of today. The entire bike for 2k is the most in this market. It is used even though not ridden

With all due respect Elefantino, I like Pete's answer better. ;)

I wonder how much it is without the livestrong bracelet.

and way underrated

I have a Litespeed Firenze 2005 with campy centaur 10 and would sell for cheap / frame only as well

even if it is a nicer Ti model. 1.5-2k

If you shop around, you can get as nice or nicer for under 1500.
It may be worth 3k but the market isn't currently paying anywhere near that...

That price is in the ballpark. The frame is nice and the build well thought out. You can find lots of Ti bikes for less but they probably won't be as nice. But it is ten years old. As the adage goes, it's worth what someone will pay for it. I just way overpaid for a frame on Ebay. But I have been searching for the frame for 3 years, the paint is excellent and I'm an extreme size. So to me it was worth it (or I need a lobotomy).

The the older model centaur parts don't match: the derailleurs are grey and the other parts are silver. I've never been a big fan of the grey centaur. I think the classic is an okay titanium frame but I wouldn't compare to certain other butted titanium frames.

I think the buying price is very optimistic.

I would say that a 10 year old bike is just that. I'm a campy fan, but at this price point, many are looking shimano...and in 2011, sram. the classic is a nice frame, but the flavor of the month would include sloping top tube with a compact crank and I know that many don't really think weight is an issue, but compared to newer lighter frames, the classic will come in heavy with the campy parts.

so I pretty much agree to others here that 3k is kind of high for a bike from 10 years ago...with that said, I'm riding a legend ti from about that era...

With all due respect Elefantino...
You are definitely new around here.
