on a new madone with dura ace crank, FD & RD- the front BB makes noise when the slop in the pedals is taken up, there is a loud bang or clunk, it seems to be the BB; as on a stand if I unload the pedals then slam them forward there is this loud noise... my older bike which is 7800 does not do this, is butter smooth and noiseless for the most part. any ideas appreciated.

Check the crank bolts. The chainring might be loose and banging against the spider.

Take apart, clean well, lube liberally, reinstall to spec, including torque. May be toasted bearings..BB86?
