Anyone added it to your sports drink menu? Its full of potassium, magnesium, moderate sodium, low calories, no fat or cholesterol. Not ideal as a stand alone but a great addition to ones menu. Maybe better suited for post ride. Lp

It is actually pretty good stand alone for carbs. It has a good concentration as well.

There are a couple of roadside stands that sell cold coconut water on my weekend ride. I'll have to check it out.

Coconut water used to be my go-to drink after a ride. I've switched to chocolate milk, as it's supposedly the best post-ride drink out there. It's also cheaper and tastier imo.

i've been buying coconut water from walgreens, mi pueblo (mexican supermarket) and elsewhere for about 1/4 the price of what they sell this new wave of "designer" coconut water for elsewhere.

drink it, it's good for you, just don't buy in to the marketing hype and spend $4 a can.

Tried some of the products from Central Market. Fresh coconut water maybe better but the stuff in bottles not so good.

Has a ton of electrolytes as well, I always take a bottle with me on any ride more than three hours.

Sounds expensive for what it is. Would good water and a banana do the same thing?

make sure you read the ingredients...many brands of CW have a lot of added sugar making them almost too syrupy-sweet.

Costco now sells it a lot cheaper than most local grocery stores.

I have started to drink CW now and then. I don't love the taste though, and I really only drink it iced cold. It is a great all natural( usually) hydrator.

Amy and Brian Natural in 17.5 oz cans is pretty good. It does contain a bit of coconut meat in on the bottom however so don't choke.

Yes a banana and water will "do" the same thing :)

I love coconut water and drink it regularly, regardless of my workout routine. I don't think it's worth the price, though. I think it costs less to buy a coconut and take the water out, than just to buy the water itself. Regardless, I'd stay away from anything with added sugar.

I use Vita Coco before and after a ride or run. I also drink it when completely high on grass... it's awesome.

Coconut water is great during rides. When I'm in Singapore there are stands along the MTB trails that sell it.

There are also little wild monkeys that drink it right along side you as well. If it's good enough for the monkeys, it's good enough for me!

+1 vita coco is my jam. I recently tried the coconut water+pineapple. It was amazing.
I drank a lot of coconut water when I rode cross county and it is my go to for long rides. Keeps me feeling good without turning to the chemical powders for nutritional support.
I'm also a huge fan of the fresh coconuts you can get in Chinatown for $1. The guy at the stand takes it out if the ice, pops a hole in the coconut and gives you a straw. Pure bliss. Perhaps I'll pick one up today.

And drink em both up,
Put de lime in de coconut and drink em both together.

This makes for great and palatable light hydration.
Good stuff.
