View Full Version : Another Campy 10-11 Compatibility Question

The consensus here seems to be that a Campy 11 crank will work with a 10 speed drivetrain.
I currently have a 10 speed double and would like to replace with an 11 speed compact.
Will the current 10 speed FD work with the new compact crank or must I replace with 11?
And if I replace are there any shifting problems to be dealt with?

Thanks for your imput!

How old is the 10 speed fd? The most recent shape of the campy 10 fd could be used with standard and compact cranks. Prior to that, they had the CT one and the standard one...

Long and short of it... you shouldn't have any trouble using a 2007 standard FD on a 11 spd cpmpact crank running a 10 spd drivetrain...

What Thwart said. The Campy CT derailleurs were unnecessary. At one point I was using a Veloce 9 speed derailleur on a compact Record 10 rig and it shifted perfectly. You shouldn't have any problem.

The FD will work fine and dandy. With the far superior, LH, Campagnolo ratching friction type shifter you can use just about any FD you want from just about any manufacturer. Put the crank on, lower the FD, maybe take a link out, go ride.

In my experience, the standard FD worked with compact better than the Campagnolo CT front der.

just as another point of reference, i agree with the potato - in my experience, you can use any FD you've got with a campy ergo lever. while i was sorting things out with my latest project my ergo shifter played perfectly fine with a sram force FD, for example. you should be good to go!
