Anyone just see that in the tour? I have never seen anything like that--not sure if they would be caught anyway, but man that was brutal and scary

Merde!!!
That car driver reminds of the people I have to put up with on my bike
commute here in Charlotte, NC. Juan Anotonio Flecha was right next
to Voelcker. He could have been a potential stage winner. Hoogerland who got caught in the barbed wire showed some resilience to get back on
and complete the stage.
Oh the humanity!!!!

Voekler does a great job of staying up. Demonstrates what I tell new cyclists, if there is contact between a front wheel and a rear wheel, the front wheel loses and the rear wheel may be just fine.

Very true....but his constant tongue wagging/smacking really bugs me. ;)

The driver was stepping on it to get ahead of the racing field. The question is should he have swarved because of the tree on the sholder.
I say no, he would of not hit it, but I'm sure his judgement was he felt he may clip the tree. Kind of a natural reaction.
Additionally he should of never tried to pass at that section of road to get ahead of the racing field.
I dont beleive he will be driving in the TDR ever again...
