Between the erectile dysfunction, the accidents, the dangerous motorists, and NOW infertility, it's a wonder there's enough people here to sustain the forum.

Reminds me of the Shakers, a religious group with a main tenant being celibacy... makes you wonder where the next generation will come from.

Today's New York Times Science Section, p. D2, also has an extensive article on "noseless saddles" to address both male and female issues affecting the nether regions. Are serious cyclists starting to use those seats?

Edit: OK, you're all right. 30 a sitting, not 30 a week

james,
it was 30 miles at a time and it was to limit time in the shorts. Earlier in the article, they note the effects of warmer temperatures in that area and talk about the effect of laptop after an hour. Not explicit, but it wasn't 30 miles a week.

What was amazing to me was them citing runners who run more than 100 miles a week. That is a lot of running. Even if you ran every day that's just over 14 miles a day. Holy crap.

Dr. Goldstein also advises male cyclists trying to conceive to ride for only 30 miles at a time—mainly to limit their time wearing tight bicycle shorts. And he recommends using a seat with a wide back rather than a hard, narrow one. "You want more of your weight on your sit bones," he says.

so you can ride 210 + on your mt. bike with baggy shorts and wide saddle
cheers

There is truth to heat and fertility. There is a reason your nuts are in a sac - to keep 'em away from your body to keep 'em cool...

In which order?

Cue the line "Jens is so tough he just stamps out clones of himself from the living flesh."

did I have a third child post-vasectomy? (And yes, I did go back and get tested per doctor's protocol.)

Yeah we joked about that. Nope, he looks like me. We call him the "miracle baby!"

He is also the sweetest little boy. Every day when I leave for work he tells me, "I love you so so so much! I love you to the moon and back!" If I don't reply he will chase me down as I pedal away or be reduced to tears. I love that kid!
