Just realised that the Super Prodigy uses a 1" threadless fork. If I buy it I'll need to buy a suitable stem.

Suggestions?

These are 1" threadless Salsa stems without the open face on the front:

(1) 1" threadless 80mm (c-c on the top of the stem) X 90 degree Salsa
cro-mo stem

(1) 1" threadless 115mm (c-c on the top of the stem) X 105 degree Salsa
cro-mo stem

Both in very good or better condition, both shipped for $35 total

A 1" reducer bushing comes standard with many stems. I've got three of these bushings I have no use for. Hardly any models are 1" specific these days.

Chuck's bikes has some 1 inch threadless stems for cheap on close out. www.chucksbikes.com. Also, any 1 and 1/8 stem will work with a shim, the shims often come with the 1 1/8 stems or any bike shop will have extras lying around.

Got a beautiful, no-name 1", 90 degree, 120mm length, closed-face stem. Looks Ti...high polish, sweet welds...but its probably cromo. Two bolt stem clamp, one bolt bar clamp. $25.00 (shipped)and its yours. jefftnix@aol.com But any stem'll work if you use the shim provided with the larger ones. Jeff N.

I like to use the 1 1/8 with the shim.
More choices and I like the look of a beefy stem........

you'll need the money for the stiffer fork

(be nice if cervelo started making those again...with 1 1/8....)

Depends on the frame size. Craig Calfee discourages routinely "upsizing" to 1 1/8" on frames </= 54cm. Says it's overkill and can make the ride choppier (my wording).

Granted some do not want to be "outdated". DBRK would have something to say about that topic...

The 1 inch full carbon Muscle fork scared the crap out of me a couple of times.
Actually when you have it your hands is scary, feels like a plastic baseball bat.
Now the 1 inch Alpha Q was much better.....Mine was a 56....
