Anyone listening to CNN this afternoon may have seen the footage about the big fire in St Louis. A site that was a holding area for deliveries of gas canisters- like O2- acetaline (sp?) anyway BAD STUFF- caught fire and the tanks began to explode and launch like rockets- It gets better- it was about 2 blocks from my house- My neighborhood looks like a war zone. Here are a few pix of the mess- I have a bunch more. These tanks were about 5 foot high and some flew over 1/2 mile away. One flew through some friends third floor wall bring down the entire third floor on top of someone inside- Luckily he wasnt hurt- As soon as the hell started breaking loose my wife got my son out and away- but for over an hour tanks continued to explode and launch through the neighborhood- Unbeleivable!!!!!

I will get some closer ones tomorrow

Dirt! You are lucky you, your family and your plants escaped!! What the h#$% happened at that storage site? YOur photos look like Baghdad, unfortunately.
My bro lives in St. Louis but right now he's in Kosovo with the Marines. I hope this wasn't his neighborhood.

I saw that on CNN, amazing!
Good to know nobody was hurt.
Talk about shrapnel!

I saw the aerial footage on TV. It looked like rocket launchers going off every few seconds.

That's some nasty debris field!

there are hundreds of pieces thrown throughout the neighborhood- My son was at his sitters ONE BLOCK AWAY- Once she figured out what was happening she got in the car and booked with the kids- Thank God!!!

No one know what happend yet- a Mack Truck dealer caught fire that was across the street- they lost several large rigs-

I will post more pix later

the house that you see the front of used to be a two story- thank God no one got hurt- not the employees- not a firefighter- not a single resident-

Someone was watching out for us

I'm in STL, but not near the site.

Saw a bit on TV (cnn) and a woman was late because of the traffic. Apparently the official cause of the late start for the Cardinals game was because people were pulling over and looking at the fire (on 40-64?).

Thanks for the pics, much more detail than what I saw on the news. Glad your kids were safe, sounds like you have a good babysitter.

just a few more pix- the divit in the street was caused by one of the canisters crashing down- there is one part of the neighborhood that is still closed off due to the power being off- the police are not letting anyone there now for fear of looting

I think the bike is just fine- I actually rode my Lemond around to take the pix- I didnt want any harm to come to my Serotta-

The news did just announce that there are three large tanks on the site with chlorine gas- that they thought were going to rupture- Wouldnt that have been nice

dirt-pal, stay off the streets! This is not the time to show off your new power-position on the Legend....unless you wanna test its quick-handling abilities with cannisters bombing down the sky...

I think this gives new meaning to ...

SH*T!!!

But I have shot some tornado aftermaths when I lived in Oklahoma that make this look like the Garden of Eden. Everything. Just. Gone.

But, hey, looks like there’s gonna be a lot of yards torn up in your neighborhood, eh, DirtDigger? Looks like they may need some extensive LANDSCAPING, eh? ;)

I see an Ottrott in your future! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Dirt-pal,
I'm very happy to hear that both you and your family are safe & sound. It's amazing that there wasn't more people hurt or worse.
