OPEN HOUSE PHOTOS--Sunday Ride

So, finally! Things are working right again and here are Sunday ride photos. Air was so thick Sunday morning you could cut it with a knife. I actually ended up with a faster average Sunday than on the Saturday "Humidity Death Ride", but only because I sat in and sucked wheel for the whole ride.

This is Scott (Scooter01) heading out on Geyser Road in front of me. I tried not to ride behind him anymore once I realized what jersey he was wearing!

uh, I have an old monitor, it adds at least 10 years to everyone's age...

The battlefield road IS sweet . . . 9 miles around, one way, and 20mph limit for cars. But if you go in the early morning there is practically no traffic. You also have the added bonus of the visitor center--guaranteed bathrooms available every circuit. About the only hazard are the over 300 (estimated) deer that live in the park. Ask Smiley and flydhest--two years ago one soared practically across their handlebars as we approached Freeman's Farm.

I still have cold sweats from the deer attack. I remember distinctly looking as if I was calm cool and collected because I didn't flinch when they went by. Of course, 5 seconds later, when I finalized processed what had happened, I almost soiled my chamois.

last year myself and two others were bombing down a hill- when two deer shot across the road- the first deer just made it between rider 1 and 2- the second just made it between rider 2 and 3- We were doing about 50 mph at the time- :eek: I DID soil myself :D

300 deer in that park? Sounds like any given stretch of the Taconic Parkway! Somebody ought to release a pack of wolves in that area. Although I hear coyotes are making a comeback, and you'll have mountain lions next... I think we will eventually pay dearly for messing up the food chain. Anyway, that road sounds cool.

Wednesday of this week? Mikemets and I were on a road where kamikaze deer were jumping out into the road seemlingly from the left and right. We just backed off the speed, sat upright, and strolled until we were back into civilization.

Got to the point where pickups were more our friend.
