i've been on a search lately for a classy (i.e. mostly, or all silver) looking frame fit pump that can be placed under the top tube. i'd rather not resort to using velcro straps but i will if i must.

of course i'd like for it to actually perform well also, mostly in the 90-110 psi area.

any suggestions?

i have the park tools frame pump i use occasionally. the best part is that its widely adjustable to work for a variety of different sized top tubes, and it holds on with spring pressure pretty securely. works fine too, used it just last week. its not classic all silver, but has an understated look and a rather classic logo. fwiw.

Yep, this one. Holds well enough without a velcro strap, but I use one anyway.

Looks cool, but I have to ask.....is "embiggen" a real word?

PS: The Zefal page doesn't say what size it goes up to. I would need one to fit at least 58.5 cm.

Well, I can't mount it vertically, it would have to fit between the HT and ST.

i've looked over the oad master blaster and the zefal hpx. i don't believe even the XL version of the hpx would fit properly under my 55.5 cm top tube. master blaster is one of my lead contenders

i wish silca impero's came in sizes for the TT rather than the ST. they're exactly what i'm looking for.

Master Blaster.

Looks really nice and works even better.

I have one and with a pump peg there is no need for a strap.

It says secure even on bumpy dirt roads.

IIRC you said you wanted to reach 90psi, and the Silca Impero is most definitely not for that. That pump was designed in a day when 70 psi was considered high pressure. It has a large displacement, and it takes considerable vein-popping, eye-bulging, muscle quivering effort to get that piston home at even 70 psi. It sure is nice looking, though.

I didn't look into the details for the pump, but what I meant to say was that was exactly what I'm looking for in the looks department. :)

Would probably have been fine without, but I used an old toe-strap to make sure that my pump didn't take flight when it felt like it:

the reality is though, although the silca is a really, really nicely made pump - i've been using topeak frame pumps for many years, and they are always reliable and work perfectly. they are an excellent option, at a very reasonable cost.

Did Bruce Gordon cut the frame pump from his lineup? I figure if the new Silca is in the range of possibility for people I'd at least drool over the OG hyper-expensive frame pump.

I will not be caught in a bike without a frame pump, I hate mini pumps.

I do wish the master blaster had a hose, is there any frame pump out there with one?

I have both a Zefal HPX4 and a Topeak Master Blaster and although the Topeak is good, the Zefal is much better. It pumps up much faster and has a smoother action, in my opinion. The size 4 fits perfect on my 57cm top tube.

Just took delivery of a new-to-me All-Cty Mr. Pink.

Seeing as how this is the third pump peg I've had in a year...maybe it's time to get a frame pump.

So, which one do I get? It's a size 56. The bike looks like this one (not my picture):

get a tape measure and find the distance between the seat tube and the pump peg.

each of the frame pumps will have a "compressed" and "relaxed" measurement. pick the one that your TT size is in between. pretty simple...

i like the topeak pumps best.

I have a Park frame pump that is adjustable so you can fit it in various frames which comes in handy if you have many bikes with different tubing and designs that require a slight adjustment to the length of the pump. You can also fit it in the seat stays too. So I like that pump for that reason.

If money's no object, I hear good things about the Silca Impero Ultimate.

The one negative I've heard about the new Silca frame pump is it is heavy. It's very well built and made out of aluminum, but not as light as some of the more plastic models like the old silca.

Then again, looking at their websites, the XL silca frame pump weighs like 289g; topeak list its XL master blaster at 270g, so there's not a lot of difference.

I have had the topeak and because there's a lot of plastic, it does breakdown after a while. Except for changing the occasional chuck gasket, I suspect the silca will last a lifetime.

Good Luck!
