I couldn't find the answer to my question although I know there are some strong opinions about the cables. Anyway, I'm curious if there is a workaround for the fact that the flexible hose does not fit into the shift lever on the shift side (brake side works fine).

You can get a joiner that Nokon slips into on one side and 4mm housing on the lever side, a small piece. BUT I recommend against Nokon in general. Expensive for what it is and doesn't really help anything, IMHO.

Thanks, I'll have to see if a piece like that was included in the box.

As for functionality, I use it primarily because i think it looks cool. I don't have an opinion on whether it works better or not, but I haven't had any issues with it on my other bike.

Probably not in the box but a decent bike shop should have some.
