missing cable stop screws

So I'm just finishing building the Lyon I bought from Frank. I'm putting on 105 brifters. The cables go from the brifters to stops on the bottom of the head tube. I look in the brifter box, all they have are cable stays that go on braze ons on the downtube. None of those little twisty barrel things that should go in the little holders on the head tube.

Should those barrels have been in the brifter package? If not where do you get them?

Shimano doesn't include those screws with their shifter sets.
I think they consider them part of the bike frame.
Probably because they were a recent developement, and their hardware
still focuses on attachment to the old DT shifter bosses.
Go to an LBS and beg

typically those barrel adjusters come with the frame and not with the shifters. They should be available at almost any bike shop however.

They're supposed to come with the frame. I have a couple from a Litespeed you can have if you have trouble (and you might. You'll get alot of, "No, don't have any in stock but I can order you some...") getting a bike shop to give you a few. Let me know. Most of the ones out there will fit...its the one thing that is industry standard, as far as size...except for the Serotta ones, which are 6mm. Too big for most other bikes with threaded stops on the head tube/down tube. Jeff N.

Jeff, thoes are excellent. Don't use aluminum adjusters, they are too fragile. Use bee's wax (sorry Dave you gotta give it up) on the threaded portion to keep them from backing out.

Jeff, thoes are excellent. Don't use aluminum adjusters, they are too fragile. Use bee's wax (sorry Dave you gotta give it up) on the threaded portion to keep them from backing out.Most come with little tension springs to aid in preventing back-out. A feature I like that is found on some frames (Moots, Holland and some others) is the little machined portion on the threaded stop itself that allows for click adjustments with use of standard Shimano spring-loaded barrels; inadvertant backing out of the barrels is virtually eliminated. A nice custom touch (Attention to detail, people! ATTENTION TO DETAIL!). Jeff N.

There is no magic formula, no spread sheet that sets front center. The designer needs to look at all the numbers in context and use thier experience to set the right front center.

Things like seat angle, head angle, top tube length, fork rake, chainstay length, etc. all factor in.

I hesistated to post this answer as I realize it sounds like a cop out answer. The problem is that it's not simple.
