Early 80's Bruce Gordon frame.
Curious if you've had a nice experience with one or if you still ride one. Any ride reports/photos to share?

Bruce makes some of the most beautiful bikes in the world. He is absolutely a perfectionist and he has been that way for a long time.
enjoy!

The Chinook was a production bike from the 80's, I believe. There was a feature article in Bicycling Magazine about the Chinook at about the same time. Bruce builds beautiful lugged frames; I doubt he'd be able to skimp on the quality with a production model, either.

I think the frame was built with Columbus SL tubing. The only limitation would be the rear end will not fit modern 130mm rear hubs without a little cold-setting.

I think the Chinook was one of the featured bikes in the Sep/Oct 1983 Bicycling magazine, along with Brian Baylis, Richard Sachs, Columbine, and others.

Didn't own one, but several friends of mine have and I have worked on several more. Excellent workmanship as you'd expect from BG. Made a racing geometry and a sport geometry, too. The sport geometry bike was similar in design to a Specialized Sequoia of the day (73 parallel, 44cm stays, 57mm brake reach.)

Beautiful....I'll try to post some photos of mine as well soon. May be time to start a Chinook fan club!

In 1983 I met my wife bike riding, she was riding an old Motobecane. Two months after we started dating, I convinced her to get a Bruce Gordon, as a friend said he was the best brazer going. So we got the Chinook in 1984. Think the frame price was $450.00, made of Columbus SP, as it was a touring bike. It is now sitting upstairs, perhaps we should sell it...

To be honest, when we had it repainted, the frame was shown to be fairly out of alignment, which shocked me. I guess even the best can make mistakes.

Too many memories there, don't get rid of it. When my wife was in labor with our first, I purchased a Merlin Ultralight. Truth be told, I had been fitted by Rob himself at Belmont Wheelworks about two weeks before. Anyway, the bike is a keeper.
