not so good news.

I did get a spot this year, which is key since many thousands of folks did not. The bummer? Just found out that without a qualifying time from the past two years (or if you are not an elite rider, ex-pro, etc.) you start in the last grid. Not a big deal in the sense you time starts when you cross the start line; however, the roads will be clogged with many riders who will be doing the shorter courses and thus riding more slowly. Not that I am fast, mind you, but being held up early on will make it tough to qualify for a better start place next year. Maybe I should just stick to Ventoux or maybe try the GF Campagnolo next year!

Outstanding Jeffg. Similar to Woody Allen's bent on life...success in competition often is the result of just showing up!!! You arrive with more than that obviously. Ride the ride and surprise yourself...I'm envious and wish I could be there. This love of the culture you have inspires me.
