I have always loved the Integralter. Weight be damned, the component has it all -- looks, Italian heritage, made for Cipo, big ol branding, etc.

It will be the final touch on one of my favorite bikes, my 2009 Cinelli MASH.

I have searched high and low for 1 1/8 40/100 (the smallest size made) for the last year -- without luck.

I found one in France for 129 euro + shipping, which works out to ~$255.

I'm on the fence, and am soliciting nudges. :help:

Will I find another, perhaps at a more reasonable price?
Any experience one way or the other that you're sure will sway me? Like, they made you look and sprint exactly like Il Re Leone?

what do you mean by 40/100?

cinelli will be re-releasing these soon, well, that is what I hear.
Also, most (all?) of the alter stems are 1".

integralters were made in 1 1/8, 40cm bar width, 100mm stem length.

i had one of those on my C'dale R1000 CAAD3 with the pin-up sticker which was in itself difficult to find. long gone and sold on eBay. sigh.

I too have been in this situation; searching for something no longer made, obscure these days, and requiring a specific example.

What I ask myself is "Will I regret not purchasing it?" and most of the time my internal answer is right.

Even though $255 (which is about what they sold for new, I think) may seem a lot now, will you really worry about it once the bike is exactly the way you envisioned?

Oh, and they are silly stiff in every dimension. I had one on a Principia race bike around 1999-2000. I would love to have one on my track bike, but I don't think Cinelli ever made a 120mm length with 40cm bars.

More to the point, you should probably consider that they were extremely prone to breakage. One reason why there aren't too many of them around.

For a slight improvement in reliability, get the stem and then use a regular bar on it. You can also hunt around and find the pinup girl aluminum plates that mount on the top of the stems (have to match the plate with the stem length) and have your own little pinup on the bike.

the pinups were thick vinyl stickers not aluminum.

and sorry to whet your appetite, but i found pictures of my integralter on my computer. if you find one it would indeed look kick-ass on your frame. i wonder where she is now...
