TX: code for the TG. Don't know why they didn't use TG, but other TG owners have reported TX on their frames also.
50: 50cm
157: the 157th TG produced
I'd still like to see us get a list together of all the 2 letter codes, make it a sticky in the catalog section.
Some I know, others I have to look up ever time the subject comes up.
This system started with the 1990 models, I believe. Mid to late 1980s bikes used all numbers, with production year the first digit in the code. I'm not sure how far back that system was used. The very early bikes had Ben's initials included.
Some 2 letter codes I remember:
AS - Atlanta
SC - Colorado II, most likely other Colorados as well
SL - Nova Special
SN - Nova Special X and NHX
CT - Concours Ti
Any of these codes preceded by a C means it's a custom frame. The exception to this seems to be early Colorados, which if stock were CC. So SC evidently means Standard or Stock Colorado

Is this the frame the serial number refers to?:

That's probably C_LI, or in the parlance of this thread, LI.

One more:
Fierte = FE
Mine is a Fierte iT, but I suspect all Fierte models are FE.

Mark,
Nice guess, but no.
Fierte IT = FE
Fierte (steel) = FI
Fierte Carbon = FC
Fierte Ti = FT
Considering an industry background, in which material trumps design or quality as determinant factors, it might seem frustrating to decode the serial numbers. I actually would prefer that they be even more confounding, since the difference in actual performance under a rider has less to do with the happenstances of which materials comprise each frame part than the answer to one question: does the frameset say "Serotta Fierte" or it doesn't it. Beyond that is a potentially distractive level of nit picking.

I believe your serial number breaks down this way: TL = model, Colorado TG in your case, 54 = frame size, 00147 = yours was the 147th built of this model.
