View Full Version : Dura Ace pedal, plastic pad replacement?

I got some older dura ace pedles whose metal is in great shape, the only problem is I have worn down the plastic pad that sits in the petal right where the ball of your foot touches the pedal. The worn out area makes it so that I have some unwanted play in my shoes on top of the pedal when clicked in. I really don't want to have to buy new Dura Ace pedals for obvious reasons. Does anyone know if you can replace the pad and/or repair it?

Anything helps!

Thanks!

I have Ultegra level pedals. A few months ago I did a search and found a source, I wish I could remember where, that was selling them for a large discount. I purchased several pairs and even paying shipping it was about half of retail.

If I recall correctly if you let those wear down too far it can damage the pedals? Maybe someone else can chime in.

I had the first gen 7750. nice pedal. Now on 7810 because got crazy deal from PBK a few years ago

My LBS had the plastic "plates" ... I think $10 and as someone else said, they popped the old out and snapped the new in for me. throw them a bone for stocking the stuff....

Probikekit.com has the Dura Ace plastic bits at one of the best prices around when they are in stock. The Dura Ace plastic part has a narrower side profile than the Ultegra part. The Dura Ace part will work on an Ultegra pedal, but not vice versa.

Dura Ace plastic at PBK (http://www.probikekit.com/us/contact-points/bicycle-pedals/pedal-spares-accessories/shimano-dura-ace-7800-replacement-cycling-pedal-body-covers.html)

My LBS has always been able to get the plastic body covers direct from Shimano. The prices were very low and the parts came in pretty quickly. Just take a look at the Shimano tech docs site (http://techdocs.shimano.com/techdocs/blevel.jsp;jsessionid=r9ZJNmrD9LR7n1NVfW4xjgjlqBK2 4P69vJyPRy8tGGYH9P2rZTYY!-740968041?ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181679&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302051957&bmUID=i.NHNBR) to get the proper part number. With the correct part number, your LBS should be able to help you out.

I think this is what I paid for Ultegra. I ordered several sets.
