Does anyone have experience running the new SRAM Rival rear derailleur with an 11-32 or 12-32 cassette? I'm thinking about changing out the Force rear derailleur on my commuter and using it on another bike and going with this combo.

Did you use a compact crank up front? The idea of near 1:1 with a 50/34 and 32 in the back sounds like a good way to climb hills that I could've done 20 years ago on my 14 speed (and may some day do again).

I just installed the Rival medium cage with a 12 32 cassette about a week ago. I'm using it with a compact crank and Red shifters. I have a few rides in and it's shifting well.

so I rode my new Casseroll today and decided I want shifter/brake combo instead of bar-end shifters... I want to go Rival components and would like to keep the ability to use the 11-32 cassette...

anyone have any further experience with this? I'll be using a 50/34 setup up front as well...

Thanks,
Chris

You can use the medium cage rival or apex RD up to 32T or for that matter the 10 speed x0-x5 mountain derailleurs and go up to a 36T as they are all compatible now.

Can't speak to the Rival compatibility with a 32T cassette but that's what the Apex rear derailleur does.

I have the Apex set-up on my Vaya, just wanted to go one level up on the Casseroll if possible...

thanks!

Like he said, just make sure that you get the Medium cage Rival derailleur and you should have no problem. If you ever want to go really huge with a 34 or 36t rear cog, you can also run any of SRAM's 10sp mountain derailleurs with their road shifters as well, it's a nice option.
