Alfine VS Rohloff

Got a plan in my head for the Rock Lobster. Any thoughts/opinions from internal hub users as to whether the Rohloff is worth the dollars over the Alfine.

Would like this setup to service offroad as well as on road.

I have 2 Rohloffs, an Alfine 8, and an Alfine 11. The 11 is too new for me to weight in on servicing and durability.

I love IGH in general; the biggest difference betwixt the 8 and the Rohloff is the gear range and the oil bath vs grease internal lube. The 11 is still less than the Rohloff in terms of overall range, but they both have oil bath internals.

I have built maybe 60 Rohloff wheelsets over the past 10 years; I have only had one faulty hub. After a few back and forths, Rohloff replaced the hub and all is well. Most if not all of the negatives that you will read about Rohloff hubs are a. the price and b. a problem right from the start. Few fail after that.
