The chalk-stripe suit is a particularly nice touch.

3 favorite things.

The dog that gets in the way

The drop at 2:30

The UCI official at the end of the race....priceless.

That is a cool race. I think this was posted a few weeks back. It's a rush to watch it again though.

That is some CRAZY urban downhill. Loved the dog too. I forwarded the link to at least 50 pals.

The downhill I've seen has all been insane like this whether it is urban or in the woods..

It really doesn't matter if you smack into a tree or a telephone pole at 40mph or land your jump into a rockface or a brick wall.. it's all going to hurt.

Being a road community I bet it's easy to be unaware of how nuts downhill is.. I know I was the first time I went to watch it. I saw the national championships a few years back at Mt. Snow.. I figured the course would be down the ski slopes.. I was surprised when I found out it was in the woods *between* the ski slopes.. absolutely insane danger everywhere.

I've replayed that video at least a dozen times now. I'll never get tired of it.

That city in specific (valparaiso-chile) is like san francisco, a zillions of houses built in the hills around, there must be maybe 20 hills and the pacific ocean at the bottom. I have to admit the guy handling is impressive the camera setup over the helmet kind'a improves the speed sensation.

For the record, kinds learn to ride bicycle and roller skates going down hill :) No kidding :D

When u are arriving to that city there is a big ass downhill (like 10 kms) in the main highway, 18 wheels trucks need to go in 2dn gear just in case. Well in that hill a kid using fix gear bike cut his chain one day, now the problem was how to stop, the kid got lucky because two guys were just finishing the training and saw him, they stopped him catching him from the seatpost and from his shoulder and toed him back to his place. Scary stuff, 70 km/h with no way to stop.

In the same city there is a velodrome that has a 45 degrees bank that has been used maybe 5 times for official national races. I think the last one was in 1993 or so, a waste.
