After riding in all the rain earlier this spring, I've picked up a cycling sound in my bottom bracket when I pedal. You guys think its road grit and not a problem? Or do I need to re-pack the bb?

Just a road newby.....

Most BBs are not "repackable" these days. Most have cartridge bearings and are replaced as a unit. If there are bad sounds coming from the bearings, cleaning and regreasing would probably not fix the problem anyway.

For good basic repair instructions go to the park tool website.

Welcome to the world of bike maintenance  Rain riding commonly causes some corrosion and dirt to camp in the BB shell threads and I'm guessing that's what you are hearing and not the bearings. Yank the cups, clean like made and reassemble. I've been using this goofy marine silicon grease that is doing a better job of occluding water and dirt than anything I've ever used. Don't ask me the name, can't remember. Someone here recommened it and the stuff is used to seal hull pass thrus.
