View Full Version : How many jerseys?

I have too much time on my hands too. :) How many jerseys do you own?

I have 14.

My boyfriend (SO) has around 40 jerseys. He's metrosexual:

"An urban male with a strong aesthetic sense who spends a great deal of time and money on his appearance and lifestyle."

Too many pair of shoes (around 40), too many high end clothes, skin care system, etc.

But he's cute and he always smells good. :)

I'm guessing 10 jerseys for myself.

Spin , its no wonder opposites attract , You and Sandy would be a perfect match . I think Sandee has only 2 jerseys and they are both Blue . And he's not sexual metro or not :)
ps: how do you date a metrosexual and live in Cincy

You're obviously familiar with our infamous city. :) It's tough dating someone that has more clothing, shoes and haircare products than I do - but then, I never, ever have to remember to take any of these things with me on a trip.

He's going to do his first crit tomorrow night on his Pinarello Dogma, of course, he has the Pinarello jersey in the perfect shade of blue to match, socks, and even shoes. He'll look great even when he doesn't win!

He also shaves his legs. But I'm finding out in the world of cycling that isn't too terribly unusual for men.

Um...somewhere around 40...not yet 50...I think...um...maybe 50...somewhere in there...

That includes long sleeved jerseys for winter riding and some I rarely wear anymore...

Heck, if I commute all week, do trail rides, *and* ride on the weekend I can get 14 or more jerseys dirty in a week...and I hate to do laundry. Better off just having a few more. :)

I almost have enough shorts and knickers I could go two weeks without doing laundry!

Are you trying to get us to recognize a weakness?

C'mon BBDave, fess up. Just how many team kits do you have laying around?

a crit on a dogma? ouch. pray he doesn't lay that puppy down.

It would be a very, very sad moment if he went down. For all my funning, I think he has a good chance of doing well, he's very strong. The Dogma is a great ride, you just step on the gas and it takes off.

He also has a Cannondale R2000 he could ride. He had a great Cannondale, CAAD7 R5000, but I had my Serotta hanging on the wall above it, the rack let go, and it landed on the C-dale denting the top tube. They're pretty fragile, the bike was around 16lb. built up. It was a very unhappy moment. I told him we could report it to the insurance company and see what happens, but that has yet to be done.

Only one. I ride on alternate days of the week, and spray paint it a new color and let it dry on the days that I am not riding. :)

I am buying one additional jersey- A blue one with a large S on both the front and the rear. It will be for the exclusive use by Superman, Superwoman, Stephanie, and Sandy. Smiley will not be allowed to wear it. Neither will Ben Serotta. Well maybe Ben Serotta. But that is just a maybe. A little maybe at that. :)

So Jim sucked you in with the cell phone, the Razor. Did you know Scottie is on this forum too? He posted something on this thread this afternoon. Saw him at the ride tonight. So Weisan...how many jerseys?

Too embarrassed to say.... ;)

When I first started riding a road bike back 20 years ago, I faced "parental objection" so I was a little bit lacking, shall we say, in the equipment department. ;) Well, finally I saved up enough money and also got tired of riding around in t-shirts and baggy-shorts so I bought my very first cycling jersey (http://alicehui.com/serotta/shimano_jersey.html). It's actually very comfortable and the wicking material is just FANTASTIC. To be honest, up until today, I did not find another jersey that is as comfortable as this one. I am actually still using it even today although a little bit of rust has developed over the zipper and I had mended one of the backpockets that is torn out with some amateur needlework but overall it's holding up pretty well. I stopped riding for about 10 years and then picked it up again four years ago, that's when I bought myself second set of jersey (Nashbar-brand). Between that and the shimano jersey, I managed to stay clean and dry for every ride (2~3 times a week) because I got into the habit of washing the cycling clothes up right after every ride and hang them up to dry. Since then, I have accumulated about 8-9 pairs of jersey and 4~5 pairs of shorts, I didn't do an exact count but just recalling over my memory. Some of which were bought on eBay, others from online sites. A couple of older model Pearl Izumis and the latest from Sugoi through my company sports team.

So, that's my story. Nothing spectacular...almost embarrassing...but stuck to the main thread Steph.-pal started I did. :p

There's no room for you to reside in the Wonder Woman jersey - it's fairly well occupied from the picture. :)

Ginger, my SO is a guy, but is in touch with his "feminine" side - hence the 40 pair of shoes, haircare and skincare products, etc. I can send a picture if someone would tell me how to attach jpg photos. Of the 40 pair of shoes, that is.

Fly, I shouldn't encourage this, but............good handling skills, balance - bet you can go "lickety" split around the "C1iterium". :)

Would love to come to the Open House, but it won't work out this year. I'm planning on coming next year, and we'll have a great time. I'll bring Mr. Metro, but not the 40 jerseys or shoes! Only the ones that match the Dogma. Merryland might not be a bad drive sometime this summer.

Hey, I got my Ottrott frame today - it's just beautiful. I spent the morning "bonding" with it - washed it with Dawn dishwashing soap and then used a Pledge lemon wax wipe to polish it. I'm dropping it at the Serotta LBS Tuesday, should have it back next Friday.

Now we can play name the frame! :)

I will bring you Graeter's ice cream - it's wonderful. I don't like Skyline either, it's thin and tasteless - real chili is robust with beans and makes you break into a light sweat.

I will happily post photos if someone can tell me how to do it.

Mr. Metro finished the race, didn't get dropped, but didn't win. He's just happy he finished since it's his first crit. Another guy from our group raced too. They're every Wednesday evening. We had a good time watching them sweat it out on the laps.

No real man would even dream of letting someone else hang the rack, especially when the bike is involved. Wise up. Sure, it's Cincinnati and there's not a lot of talent to draw on, but doesn't Pete Rose have some illegitimate sons running around that you could hook up with? Some guys who don't cancel their ride if their socks don't match their bar tape? Heartache and misery await you.

I dunno...I can see the attraction of a Mr. Metro. It's nice when a guy makes an effort. I mean, I can change my own oil, I remodeled the kitchen doing all the labor myself or with a little help. (Building the cabinets from scratch? I borrowed my dad for a bit...and I don't do much electrical work. I like what electricity can do for me, but I don't like what it can do *to* me!) And I usually follow my own sense of style when I walk out the door... But who needs to stop and check to make sure their guy didn't make a major ugly wardrobe decision before you go out at night? Do you know how hard that is to deal with? Men have SUCH fragile egos when it comes to what they put on...they'll never ask if something makes them look fat, but if you merely suggest that *perhaps* their ensemble is a touch off...the results are just as bad as answering the fat question wrong.

Personally, I wouldn't trust anyone to hang the rack that *my* bike was hanging on! (Yep, there's a personality flaw for ya) And I certainly wouldn't use a wall anchor, sure, they work for picture frames, but my bike? I think not. Bolt that rack direct to the studs baby. And yeah...I tend to over-engineer things as well.

More power to ya Spinsistah, and congrats on finding a guy who can match his *own* socks! If he can cook you've got it made!

Thanks Ginger!

When I initially hung the rack, it was fine, stayed put for over a year. I thought I had it in the studs, but we got a ton of rain last fall and the drywall in the garage absorbed some of the moisture in the air - out came the bolts.

I do a ton of stuff myself too, you have to or it costs a fortune for contractors. Mr. Metro moved in with me last fall and it's nice having him here. Of course, I had to give him his own walk-in closet and bathroom for his stuff. :) He's an excellent cook, well read, and I never, ever have to worry about what he wears when we go out. His style is impeccable. He probably spends more money on stuff than he should, but is anyone perfect? (Well, maybe BBDave who keeps abreast of most activities). :)
