Yes, here is mine though it's set up as a fixed gear rather than SS.

i thought OP meant stainless steel, not single speed :p

but i've seen plenty of track/fixed/"SS" serotta frames in various places.

Nice bike. Yes, I meant single speed. What's the model name?

thanks,
Chris

They made a bike called the Big Dig that was a SS specific model. Not sure of the production run or anything like that.

It's a CDA. They also made a run of Legends a few years back with track ends. I forget what they were called.

Thanks for the information. Now I have a better idea of what I'm looking for.

Does anyone know, if I sent an older steel frame to Serotta, could/would they put track dropouts on it?

That's seems like a lot of effort to go to, just to make it a single speed. Is the issue vertical dropouts? If so, just get one of these (http://www.bikebling.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=Surly-Singleator) and call it a day!

NOTE: Works with a freewheel, NOT fixed gear.

a geared frame set up as a single speed is always sort of a shame i think. I just hate seeing all of those useless braze-ons hanging out looking so sad about how they no longer have a job to do.

useless brazeons?

The only potential one is the derailleur hanger.

Fenders and racks still still work!

I think it's kind of awesome that a bike can be rebuilt to have a completely different ride characteristic. Bored of a road bike? Throwing some different bars on and making it a single speed could be the difference between it getting dusty and being used.

from an aesthetics standpoint, I can understand why one braze on could be less pleasing, but if you've already got the frame I think I could live with it. Well, unless you've got money to burn :bike:

Didn't they make a run of stock single-speeds a few years ago too? "Singolo", or something like that. I could be wrong.

March 2009 I purchased a Singolo Fixed frame set from the Serotta Garage. I'm not sure how long they were produced or if it was a regular production run. But there were only a couple 56cm frame sets left and I got the impression they were made from tubing left over from other model lines. Mine was made from Columbus Spirit tubing, carbon fiber S3 fork and sold only as a frame set.

+1

Though, it's worse to see a gorgeous 80s road steed with the braze-ons filed down.

Serotta has made (very few) Ottrott track frames (DROOL...) including a few in the USPS paint (and clearcoat) scheme.

They also made a Corsa Pista (colorado concept, luggged, true track geometry) about 10 years ago.

Nathan Rogut used to race (very competitively) on a Serotta track frame.

I can't recall if Bill Walton had Serotta build him a track frame, but I think he did.

While there have been countless frames made in the past usable with single speed drivetrains, many usable exclusively as single speeds, Serotta does still offer them, if not expressly on the website.
Currently every welded model is available and has been made as a single speed.
It's a no-charge option.
Whether it's an Ottrot track frame, a CdA commuter, a Legend for winter training with fenders, no matter.

Below is a consignment Serotta from a local shop. They call it a "custom" though I don't know in what way they are using the word - if it's actually 100% custom built to spec, or just factory custom.

I have one. A CDA road geometery with track drop outs. I haven't even ridden the darn thing yet.

Looks like the one on sellwood (http://sellwoodcycle.com/consignment.htm#drop)

I've been toying with the idea of picking up that serotta or the landshark (http://sellwoodcycle.com/bicycles/full/60299.jpg) for such a long time.
