For the past week of so, I've had the song "Big Bottom" (from "This is Spinal Tap") in my head. I must have been singing aloud w/o realizing it b/c my 3 y/o son starting trying to sing parts of it.

We were all at a restaurant on Sunday and all of a sudden, my boy starts singing out loud -- "Big bottom, big bottom, talk about bum cakes, my girl's got'em" I'm sure he doesn't really know what it all means, but unfortunately, there were 2 older women there with the appropriately sized anatomy who walked by our table right when he started singing. The timing of his singing was probably just coincidence, but the women made it a point to glance in my direction with a not so friendly look..

my wife certainly didn't think it was awesome at the time (she turned pretty red), but now she sees the humor in it

Soundgarden's cover of that is even better than the original. Check Youtube for a live clip. Big smiles.

LA Face with an Oakland booty...

My daughter is a fan of Indiana Jones at the ripe age of 4. Her favorite line of the whole movie, is "Dr. Jones, no time for love!". If you don't remember, it is when Short Round first helps them escape from the casino/louge.

Anyway, good times.

Simply AWESOME. I've got a 3 yr old (about to turn 4 in May) and I can relate. Thanks for sharing - made me laugh aloud and put a smile on my face.

The oldest of my brood was two, just talking. We were working on "please and thank you" with almost no success. Mom drops something in the kitchen and exclaims "s**t". Katie walks around repeating that for days, please and thank you came along eventually. 28 years later it is still part of her lexicon.

If that embarrassed you wait until a parent starts developing dementia and does something similar in a similar setting. When I was first exposed to the situation with an elderly neighbor when I was a little boy my mom told me he was in his "second childhood". That is quite apropos and maybe a bit kinder/softer than other terms. Most of us have or will be faced with the situation and it's better if we can laugh rather than cry about it. :) :)

Yea fun times. While possibly at the time not a lot of fun, good memories down the road. Couldn't tell you how many times at the bank, at school, at church, my kids something that made me turn bright red(or maybe it was green being sick to my stomach).

You made my day with that story!

You should have stood up and proclaimed loudly, "That's my boy!"

Many years ago our friend with young children stopped by for a visit. For some reason I was in the car with the Mom and kids when another driver did something I did not like. I started to say "That so and so" but caught myself and said "fella". There was an immediate echo from the back seat, "That fella". I am glad I caught myself.

Have you heard the joke about the guy driving his kids on Saturday morning and one of the children asking "where all the assholes were"? Classic!
