OK , so today I had over inflated my front tire by the pumps gauge to about 110 psi , I did not like the way my Hors decended , so I stopped and let air out of the front tire my best guess is 20 psi lower , what a difference , the traction for the front was much better . We had a bit of cross winds blowing on my decents and I could feel a bit of bumpiness up front , all that was gone once I let the air out . So I am thinking of going to a 25 mm tire in lieu of the 23 mm I currently use . Any suggestions or does anyone know of a 23 mm that measure bigger . I use Hutchinson Gold Comps now . Thanks

When I switched from 700x23 to Avocet Fagrip Road 700x25s, pumped up to 100-110psi, was the best thing I've ever done. It made my ride ALOT more comfortable and allowed me to corner, climb and descend better. I say try. If you don't like it, go back to 23s.

The only downside is that 700x23 is easier to find and more often on sale, so it can be cheaper.

700x25 are available for Michelin Pro Race 2 and Continental Grand Prix 3000.

Smiley - will your Hors fit a 25? Mine is awfully tight with 23's.

If ya want the cats-meow, veloflex makes a 24...

If you're using tubulars and want the bee's-knees, Dugast makes a 25...

Bontrager Race Lites come in a 700x25. They are pretty cushy, roll nicely, and most importantly, don't cost too much.

Aw heck, just get some 28's and be done with it. Way slower then 23's or 25's?? Heck no, just a better ride and a lot less flats.

Smiley,
I put some Michelin Pro Race2 25's on my Calfee this wknd and I really like the ride. Beware that the pressure ratings are 75-103lbs. I run mine at 90 front 95 rear w/latex tubes. I also weigh 145lbs so pinch flatting is not a problem. They fit a Alpha Q fork so the Reynolds will have room.

I run 700x28 Conti Ultragatorskins on 2 bikes and 700x25 on the CSi w/ F1 fork because that's the biggest in can fit. 90-100psi under my 200 lbs=no flats of any kind. Nice ride--not slow. Nobody coasts downhill faster in my group of faT OLD GUYS.

I've had pretty good luck with Michelin Pro Race 25s, which are what I have now on my CSi. I have some of the Bontragers on my fixie and they seem fine, although I'd give the preference nod to the Michelins (and although I haven't measured, the Bontragers seem to have a slightly smaller profile than the Michelins, despite the common size label).
