Are there any quality cycling socks out there that are thinner than Defeet Lev Lite socks, yet durable at the same time?

I don't know about 'brands', but I always look for a 100% acrylic sock -- as thin as I can find it. I found the higher the cotton content, the more it tended to absorb water-- causing the fibers to swell. Even when my feet are soaked, they are still comfortable.

DeFeet makes some pretty thin socks. How about the Levitator Noseeum? It is cut low though, that wouldn't work for me.

Sole makes the thinnest sock that I've ever seen, or worn. In fact, I find them too thin.

Icebreaker (http://www.icebreaker.com/site/icebreaker_man_socksbike_bike_ultralite_micro.html ) makes some nice, very thin wool socks. Not cheap but they've held up well for me and moderate temperatures and manage moisture (and smell) quite effectively.

but I immediately thought about WRIGHT SOCKS http://www.wrightsock.com/coolmesh2.php
The coolmesh is the thinnest ones they make and a double layer to reduce friction, different heights ie crew, quarter, and low. They are very thin in my opinion.
REI has them

Me! Not wearing them is enough to set off every geiger counter within 100 miles!
