Bare Aluminum protection

So I sanded the anodized black finish of my seatpost to somehow match the color of my Titanium frame. Now it's bare aluminum sanded smooth. I'd like to keep the shiny finish so do I need to spray a clear coat or will it corrode or fade if left bare?

Polished alloy will oxidize and will need more maintenance then anodized to keep it shiny. Environment will make a difference on how often it will need polishing. Waxing can't hurt.
