View Full Version : Equivalent of Serotta Heads-Up Head Tube Extender

The threads I've seen on this subject are a bit dated. Thinking about my alternatives to waiting for a used custom frame that fits to show up for sale (I'm too cheap to order new custom). Want something like an Ottrott or the Fierte IT. These would fit if I could get the head tube up a couple of cm. Otherwise I'd need too many spacers.

What are people using for this application?

I've seen the "1/8 Inch" extender on Ebay, but those seem to be made for under the HT even though some say you can use them on top.

Any other products fit this bill?

there is no reason you shouldnt be able to use these on the top of a head tube, or just suck up the vanity, get a steel steerer tube fork and use a bunch of spacers, either will work fine...

Fierte geometry includes a taller head tube than most bikes.

Yeah but I need the equivalent of a 56cm ETT with a 19cm HT. Their 56 comes with a 17cm HT.

I really do not understand the use of the 1/8 extenders on the bottom of a head tube. I use a couple of these to extend the top of my head tube for older 1" frames and they work great!

the 8th inch are the only ones I've seen for sale recently. If you don't want the upside down logo, you could sand and polish them, or paint to match frame.

May be a last resort....

A Fierte 58 has a 56.5 ETT and a 190 HT.

If vanity is not an issue, a rider can raise bars a bunch by simply using a high-angle stem turned up. Ugly to some but very effective, and it doesn't require a new fork.

Yeah I'm on the low side of a 56, preferably a 55 or 55.5 actually. Should have said that instead of 56. I have a 57 TT Crown Jewel Ti right now and it's a tad too long.

No vanity problem here. Used spacers to increase HT height., since picture steer tube has been cut above stem

Recreation rider, not racer, using past two seasons no issues
Silky smooth ride. Right size IF Crown Jewell Ti SE comes along, its mine and this one is up for sale

Kudos. I'm definitely more vain than you.
