No pun intended but I must be old at age 56 but I still wanna do a bit of hill from time to time. I have an old Mega 9 XTR RD-M952 rear derailleur that have a chain capacity of 45 (at least) and I am just wondering if any forum member has experience mixing that with a road triple with a 10-speed 34t cassette? I have a spare set of used Dura Ace 7800 triple drive train to put on.

Thanks all in advance.

It should work.

I use a Deore RD-M591 long cage on a 11-34 cassette, and a Dura-Ace 7800 triple front w/ a Sora 53/39/30 crank. I keep it at 9 speeds though, but the 9 and 10 speed Shimano stuff has always been interchangeable.

A 9-speed Shimano MTB rear derailleur plays well with 10-speed road components.

latest bike. sram 34 tooth 9 cassette, 105 triple front braise on, Dura Ace 7803 triple front shifter, Ultegra 6500 rear 9 shifter. be patient with dialing in the derailleurs and all should be fine.

seems like on some installs the 7803 sti with two middle trims available works better and on others the 6503 sti with a single trim available works on others.
