last lap.
3 turns to go.
easily slotted for a top 10 finish.
dude crashes on the outside of the turn.
dudes get spooked. i get distracted.

a little too much rear brake and suddenly I'm on my ass with the entire pack passing me.

not too much damage. shifters survived. wheels survived. bibs survived.

ass is red and will shortly turn to a splotchy dark blue.

but the saddle (the one I just bought last week) has a nice tear on the side.

any fixes?

If you google bike "saddle recovering" you will get links to a bunch of DIY methods. There is also a guy who does this as a professional service but I can not think of his website. Someone here will remember.

getting a saddle re wrapped is no big deal. It's not cheap, but then neither are saddles...

That said, If I ruined a saddle I would call Ray and get him to recover your saddle and send Handlebra to match... I believe there's a guy doing that with him.

If not, any auto upholstery shop can recover a saddle (likely with left over material, for cheap.

How bad is the tear, is it just a slit?

Depending on the material, you can use a combo of contact cement and some sort of stitch lock or finishing glue to fix.

I had a fizik on my cross bike that tore on the cloth area. I used stitch lock to repair so it wouldn't tear further. Much cheaper than a recover and not bad knowing it will probably get more worked.

Check out recoveredsaddle.com (http://www.recoveredsaddle.com/)
He recovered 2 saddles for me this winter and I was completely satisfied with the materials, the work, the quick turnaround (about 2 weeks door to door) and the prices.

Sure, the saddle will lack any accent stitching or logos, but it will look professional.
