The Atlanta I am purchasing has Mavic CXP10 rims. I am familiar with the open 4 CD's, how do they compare?? Anybody have any experience with the CXP10's?? Thanks

No experience with it, but it is probably a low end OEM type rim. Should be OK. Ride it until it breaks or get something that makes your gums sweat and keep these as backup/bad weather/winter rims.

My buddy's bike came with CXP-22's. The 22's should have been adequate for his weight, riding, and because he is attentive and does not run over stuff or hit chuckholes. They would not stay in true despite numerous attempts by the LBS and if I remember correctly one wheel failed after a few months. This was in 2007 and he got no warranty satisfaction. He purchased Aksium's and has had zero problems.

I guess what I really am looking to know, is should I swap the open 4 cds from my Raleigh with the CXP10's on the Atlanta? Therfore keeping the open 4 cds and sending the CXP10s down the road on the Raleigh.

If all things are equal (hubs, wear, round/trueness), keep the Open 4CDs and sell the Raleigh with the CXP10s. The O4CDs are predecessors to the Open Pros (pre-machined braking surface) and are much sturdier than the 10s, which are lower level. non-eyeletted rims.

+1 on this, IMHO.

I still have one set of Open 4CDs and use them regularly as an additional backup rim set. They were bought new in about 1997 to go on my TG.
