bb shell imprint- 831021

my guess is 1983, frame # 1021- but heck, I'm not sure of anything.

any idea(s) would be appreciated.

thanks- I'm more of a lurker than a member.
i really am anxious to build this frame up- and see whats in store this spring-( it is wisconsin after all. . .)and then make a decision from there about how long it stays in circulation.

attached are pictures recently taken-

again- thanks for the generous information on this forum.

Schwinn Collegiate 3speed. Nice bike steel rims a bit slippery in the rain. :)

Welcome.

I think first digit is year, 1988. 2nd is month, March. The rest is running number of frames. I've never been clear on whether it's for the year, or that particular month.

How bout some pics?

I understand its for the month, so #1021 in march of 1988? At least thats how it was described to me.

Also, is it Columbus SLX tubing? May be a Nova Special X, but I have been wrong before.

Actually that BB cluster looks different than the Special X, so i probably was wrong.

Not SLX tubing- something slightly more pedestrian without any fancy initials.

I was also thinking along the lines of the nova x b/c the bb cluster has all the cable hardware brazed on, and the rear deraillieur cable boss running over the top of the chain stay. The chainstays are in the 400mm range to- which will let me run a few different tire sizes this year.

oval campagnolo stickers all over it, with no real logic apparent.

color is 'lavender-in-pearl'. my wife has a rule V interpretation out because of this. . .
