One of my family members is a young guy, new to cycling, who is riding enough miles that it's time for his first road bike. Which is to say it's time for a proper fitting. If he were in Boston or NY I would know exactly where to send him, but he lives in Seattle.

When I got into cycling many years ago I rode a size cycle and did the KOPS thing as part of the process of selecting my first road bike, which revealed my need for very slack ST angles. This parameter has driven my selection of stock and custom framesets in intervening decades.

Any recommendations for a shop in Seattle which does a great job with fit and has good inventory of entry level gear?

Elliott Bay would be my first stop, unless you can get George to come out to Il Vecchio (I don't even know if it's still open).

Retired.

I'd go see Erik Moen for fitting (Kenmore, north end of Lake Washington).

he won't have entry level gear, but he knows his sh*t when it comes to fitting.

check out Zac at Cascade Bicycle Studio (in Freemont I believe).

Too bad. What a supremely interesting shop.
