What years was this model made, and why was it called "Slicker"?

I'm going by memory so I may not be totally accurate as to the details but here goes.
The Slicker was In the line I believe from roughly 85-91 and it was designed as more of an all around road/city bike hence the name "Slicker" or in some years "City Slicker". The angles were a bit more relaxed than the road bikes, the fork had a bit more rake, the chain stays were a little longer, the bottom bracket had a shade more drop, and I think the front triangle was a bit longer for each size that was offered.
They were really cool bikes and I'd always wanted one because I liked the concept of a flat bar skinny tire bike which for the time was pretty rare. I also think there were maybe 5 sizes vs. the large number of sizes that were offered in the road bike models. I hope this helps and again if I was way off base I apologize.

I see that it has clearance for fenders and mounts for them too. Nice!

Cool.
I would have thought that the flat bars were added by the owner.

I thought I had the only Slicker (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=78859) ! It's been passed around quite a bit in this here forum.

I've never seen the Slicker listed in a Serotta catalog.

It was in one of the catalogs posted here, but now I can't find it. Don't remember which year. I believe mine is an '85.

I'd agree on 84-85 based on the decals which look original. My Club Special has that same fork crown (Nagasawa?). Nice looking bike.
