Never fails to amaze me how so many people sprint in such close proximity without a huge pileup.

is the return of the french to the top level in pro cycling?

i don't think so but would like for it to be so. little tommy v has been a great stage racer and winner since his breakout tour, but he doesn't have what it takes to win a grand tour. also, french cyclists are cleaner than the rest and the french seem to take doping more seriously (at least within their borders), so unless and until (i) the peloton gets mostly clean or (ii) the french take to doping with gusto, i see the french drought in grand tours set to continue for the foreseeable future.

Little bummed about stage 5. Not a Radioshack fan and absolutely not a Kloden fan. Do like Sammy Sanchez, he is a real good sprinter and wish he won it today. Also like Carrara as well, I believe he won the Tour of Luxemburg last year.

Surely not a dark horse but I am pegging Tony Martin to win the overall.

the schlecks and 'berto better watch out for him come tour time. let's see how his form rounds out but i say he'll be a contender for yellow.
