NAHBS? What's a NAHBS? Too far away for most of us...

No---I'm talking about Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (formerly Het Volk), the unofficial beginning of the Spring Classics. And with a new, nastier route (whoops, I mean 'more selective').

Tomorrow AM, starting around 8 AM Eastern time. Check out the video links on CyclingFans: http://www.cyclingfans.com/node/1627

Woo-hoo!

Will this guy repeat?

First of all, I'm certainly no expert... but a bit of a 'primer' on using CyclingFans:

This is all about video and audio streaming streaming over the internet. Usually one of these Euro TV channels (shown on the right in the image from their site below) will be available for internet streaming. Sometimes the stream will be interrupted, then just go back to CyclingFans to pick another one. Refresh to find new ones, they're frequently added during the race. If we're lucky, we'll be able to watch one with English commentary tomorrow morning. Sometimes that's not available, the announcer will be speaking French or German. Then I usually mute the audio for the viewer in that window or tab, and open another for 'audio only' broadcasting in English (choices for this are also shown on the Cyclingfans site, down a bit further on the page from the video links). Usually EuroSport will have an audio only stream in English, sometimes there are others. There are also live tickers of the action if all else fails, or if you want to focus more on some other activity while using your computer.

It's really not all that involved to do. Be advised that the video stream will be somewhat pixelated compared to normal TV.

I usually catch all the Spring Classics this way. The race finish is usually between 9 and 10 AM CST... just about the time to go out for a ride in the late winter/early spring, if the weather's really nice.

And the best part... it costs nada.

+1 for cyclingfans. Another good one is steephill.

Oh, and for Het Volk/Niewsbald I am going to of course go with Gilbert all the way. I would like to see Boonen do well though.

Woohoo good races are starting up. It feels like the start of a new year. :)
