I need to replace the bb on my Record triple (~2004 or 2005, I think), but I've been having a hell of a time trying to find a British threaded 111mm asymmetric replacement. I've heard that Campy no longer makes them. I know that I can get something from Phil Wood that will work, but are there other options? Thanks!

Campy Centaur 111mm bb is still available here for $85:

If you prefer something else besides Campy, SKF sells an ISO 111mm bb for $130:

Of course, there's also a Phil Wood. Good Luck!

The Centaur BB is the wrong 111. It is symetrical. You need the asymetrical 111 for Chorus or Record. They are easy to find.

There ae plenty of them for sale on E Bay, usually from UK, and you can just order one from Ribble in UK, or probably from "Old Potato" in Boulder on here. I believe he has said he stocks them. And sure Phil makes an asymetrical 111. And the Phil would have some side to side adjustment.

BTW....I have one of those Record Triple's NIB. That's how I know what BB they take. They are beautiful cranks. I'm thinking about installing it for full time use, not just for my mountain trips. I kinda like the idea of having a 42-53 for most use, with that 30 tooth for when I need it. And I like how it makes the chainline. The extra 40 or so grams over similar double doesn't bother me (I've weighed both double and triple).

I have Chorus($135). One supplier I use still have Record-$165.

As has been mentioned, Phil-about $150.

Centaur, altho 111mm is symmetrical and may have small ring to close to seat tube and effect inward travel of the FD.

Centaur still made BTW, I have those as well, same price as Excel-$85.

Does anyone here have experience with the Token 111mm ISO bottom brackets? Are they also asymmetrical?

The ones I see on E Bay have been for Centaurs, etc. Symetrical.

I wonder why Record Italian triple BBs are being sold dirt cheap (ebay) while English are so hard to get?

Italian bikes are so cool they actually repel triple cranks, kinda like reverse magnetism... ;)

That's what I thought... last time I put triple on my Colnago with World Championship paint scheme the whole economy fell apart. Btw aren't most randonneurs and tandems non-Italian?

Think you're right.

Italian bike, think Ferrari. Ain't no practical bits on a Ferrari...
