It will hardly be used before the Olympics. I hope it's not considered a white elephant and torn down after the Olympics!

Having had their first taste of the London Olympic velodrome, Britain's track cyclists will virtually ignore the venue for a year as they stay at their Manchester training base, Dave Brailsford said.

Despite the track having different characteristics to the Manchester velodrome, British cycling will retain its base at the northern venue and use the Olympic track only occasionally after it hosts a World Cup test event early next year...

He confirmed, though, that there were no plans to shift British Cycling's base to London and that London would be used only as an occasional training venue. It will also be available for other countries to use, though access will be limited in an attempt to maintain the quality of the surface.

It was a shame Atlanta tore down their velodrome once the 96 Olympics wrapped up. The only one down there now is East Point, which must be the Paris-Roubaix of U.S. velodromes.

The breaks in the concrete make for some bumpy laps.
