Sorry for the delay on this info.

I just posted this across the call and wanted to place this here as well.

As mentioned "over there", this is by no means a comprehensive list. Please feel free to add as you see fit:

Clubs (downtown):

Antones –named after the man that is considered to be the god-father of Austin blues-Clifford Antone (Cory Morrow is a great, Texas country musician that’ll be playing on Friday Night)
Cedar St-can be a bit yuppy-ish on weekend nights, but the place usually has great, live bands playing outside and the energy levels are usually fantastic
Rainey St District- This is a collection of great little bars that are only a few blocks away from the convention center.
Cedar Door- Another great place to sit outside and only a couple of blocks from the convention center.
Mean-Eyed Cat- Okay, this one is about as far away from the convention center as you can get and still be considered downtown, but the Deraillers are playing there on Saturday Night to celebrate Johnny Cash’s 79th birthday! I highly recommend them.

These are only a few suggestions as there are a TON of options throughout downtown.

Clubs (outside of downtown):

Continental Club (on Congress South of the River-about 5 minutes from downtown) A great mix of blues/blues-rock/and honkey tonk. Red Volkert and The Blues Specialists are two that are playing this weekend
Ginny’s Little Longhorn (a serious dive bar that has to be experienced-it’s on Burnett Road about 10 minutes from downtown ). Dale Watson (probably the best honkey-tonker alive) will be playing there on Sunday Afternoon.
The Broken Spoke (a classic, dance-hall style venue on Lamar South of the River-about 10 minutes from the convention center). Bruce Robison is playing on Saturday Night. Great chicken-fried steak!
The Saxon Pub (a staple on the Austin music scene. Also on South Lamar-about 10 minutes from the convention center). Guy Forsythe and Omar and the Howlers are playing on Saturday Night
Sholtz Garten (just to the Northeast of the Capital). Unfortunately there isn’t anything great happening there this weekend music-wise, but I couldn’t NOT mention it (landmark…).

Again, there are MANY other choices in addition to these.

Restaurants:

IronWorks (BBQ) RIGHT next to the convention center on Red River
Green Mesquite (BBQ) Lamar and Barton Springs (South of the River). This is my personal favorite in Austin and has been featured on the Food Network
Juan in a Millions (TexMex)-On Caeser Chavez/1st Street and about 5 minutes from the convention center. It is divey and fantastic! Try the Don Juan (the breakfast taco to end all breakfast tacos).
Guero’s Taco Bar (TexMex) – On Congress South of the river close to the Continental Club
Chez Nous (French) – Only a couple of blocks away from the convention center and really good!
Moonshine Grill (Americana) –VERY close to the convention center on Red River. Good place!
Threadgill’s (Texana)-Just South of the River on Barton Springs. Good stuff-heavy but good. 
Clay Pit (Indian)-A bit further away on the North end of downtown (Guadalupe) but really good.
Jovita’s (TexMex). This is a bar/restaurant/music venue that is on South First and is an Austin landmark. Good food, good beer, good music!
Amy’s Ice Cream –multiple locations around town. Austin-owned and good stuff!

There is currently a big movement in Austin around “trailer food” which is a restaurant in an Airstream or Airstream-like trailer. There are a bunch of fantastic ones around that have been nationally recognized.

If you don’t mind trying places a bit further out, check out Z-Tejas (upscale TexMex) on 360, The Salt Lick(BBQ) in Driftwood, or the Oasis on the Lake (the food is terrible but the drinks and view are great).
As you can imagine, there are a TON of options to choose from. If you’re into eating an entire zoo, there is a Fogo de Chao very close to the convention center.

Bike Shops:

Mellow Johnny’s
Bicycle Sport Shop
FreeWheeling Cycles
The Peddler
Nelo’s

Must See/Landmarks:

The Capitol Building (The tallest capitol in the U.S. – It’s really a beautiful building!)
The Texas History Museum (this will give you an understanding why Texans are so proud of this mess that we have…)
Barton Springs/Zilker Park (the heart of Austin-Barton Springs is a spring-fed swimming pool)
South Congress (known as SoCo. It’s a collection of shops, bars, restaurants, etc)
South Lamar (A collection of shops, used car lots, restaurants, bars, music venues, etc)
The Stevie Ray Vaughn statue on Town Lake (errrr, I mean Ladybird Lake)
Waterloo Records
Take a drive out by Lake Travis

Biking:

MTB on the Barton Creek greenbelt
Road ride on any of the numerous group rides that happen on Saturday and Sunday:
-Mellow Johnnys
-Austin TriCyclist
-Bicycle Sport Shop
-Progress Coffee
-Violet Crown Rides
Rent bikes at Bicycle Sport Shop or Mellow Johnny’s to tour around the city.

Local Beers:

Independence Brewing
Live Oak Brewery
Real Ale Brewing Company
Black Star Co-Op
North by Northwest Brewery
Shiner (okay, so it's in Shiner, but its pretty much a staple in these parts...)
Treaty Oak Rum (okay, it's not beer, but it's good and local!)
Tito's Vodka (okay, it's not beer, but it's good and local!)

I hope that you guys have a great time in our fair city and I look forward to meeting a number of you!

This is a great list of nice stuff in Austin,
Waterloo records on 6th and Lamar, with Amy's Ice Cream next Door is fun.
Walking down South Congress is fun.
The Deraillers are a hoot.
You got the goods!

You're a good man, Tex. I wish I could be there. Honestly, in a single post you've done a better job making me want to visit Austin than my friends at UT have in scores of phone calls and e-mails over the past couple of years.

It's not too late! We've got an extra room and a couple of bikes in your size that you could borrow...
