Won't every other organization under the sun immediately ban him for two years then?

That's the Spanish Federation for you......how do you say Vince McMahon in Spanish?

I agree, this is meaningless, and may actually be doing a disservice to AC. The blowback on this could be worse than if he just would have taken the year and moved on....kind of like a University sanctioning itself, hoping the NCAA will not drop the gong on them.

The check to the competition committee members must have just cleared.

What a joke.

I've pretty much lost all faith in Pro Cycling. Ugh.

Good article here, as always.

From what I have been reading, if AC had claimed it was from eating Chinese beef, he would have a case.

I like Floyd's response.

Hello Mr Ditesheim'

I haven't heard from you in a few days and thought I'd drop you a note with a few things to ponder. I'd like you to please try to reconcile this (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/carpani-says-uci-pleased-with-spanish-federations-handling-of-contador-case) with your threat of litigation in light of todays exoneration of Alberto Contador. I look forward to your explanation.

Thank You
Floyd Landis

Floyd needs to shut up and hide under a rock! Why would anyone listen or put his words to print. Bla Bla Bla.

I can't recall the official Tour de France winners the past couple of years.

haha. Talking to a guy owns a chicken farm today (don't ask how ya go from politics to chicken farms standing in line in 5 minutes). 6 weeks from egg to table. Steroids said, gotta love 'em. What in the great wild wild world.
If my parents would have known, I wanted to be more than five feet 2.

Contador... These people aren't serious?!

I'm surprised pro riders don't eat organically certified food to avoid the possibility of 'contamination' ;-). The sanctions for a failed test are severe and so one would think that they would take every precaution to avoid contact with modern agricultural techniques. Farm animals are routinely exposed to antibiotics and growth hormones and steroids.

Sadly I've come to the conclusion that most pro riders are cheating, and that the UCI is part of the circle of deceit. The cycling media also probably has a code of silence for commercial reasons.

I still love the doing of cycling though.

Spain has *a lot* to lose. There were rumors regarding the implication of Soccer's world champion team in Dr Fuentes files.

At this stage there is no other solution than to lie, lie, and lie some more.

I really hope the UCI or the TAS get the clamps on him real tight.

Otherwise there might be a mishap in the peloton at next year's tdf. like a massive crash involving him. Doesn't help that he is not very popular.

After some thinking about it:

1. I would like to believe that Contador did not dope.

2. I think the strict liability standard should be re examined.

3. I think his acquittal by the Spanish federation is of questionable credibility.

4. I would not be all that surprised if he was doped to the gills.

I love that Bjarne Riis says he will continue to do his utmost to fight doping in sports.
