It isn't a Serotta but you guys are experts on everything cycling related so I figured I would ask here.

I have this Colnago aluminium cyclocross bike that I know nothing about. The seller doesn't remember when he bought it but figures it to be about 2001. Everything on the bike is 9-speed Dura Ace except the cranks which are Ultegra and the brakes, which are Spooky. The tubes are crimped and the bike is incredibly light, about 18lbs or so.

I have checked online catalogs but haven't had much luck finding out anything about the cyclocross bikes that Colnago produced or even if there were many cyclocross models.

Can anyone tell me how many different cyclocross models Colnago produced? The fork appears to carbon fibre with aluminium tips and crown, does that seem right? How much would a bike like this have originally retailed for? I am pretty sure the Dura Ace stuff is team-spec'd, that is why it has "Shimano" written on the brake levers rather than "Dura Ace", right?

Thanks for any and all help, here are some pics of the bike. It rides incredibly well :D

Nice. When you're ready to sell it, let me know. Seriously.

Can't really help you, but do have a stupid question for you - could you tell me the distance from the seat rails/clamp down to the bottom of the DA post 'fluting'? Thanks very much!

Love that Rabo paint scheme!

I'd say at least the paint job is from 2004 or later. The 3 color band flying flag graphic paint schemes came out first when C50 was first introduced which was I think 2004 (or maybe 03). You can measure the steerer tube diameter to determine whether it is 1" head tube frame or 1 1/8": I think it was 2003 or 04 the general shift from 1" to 1 1/8" took place. So if you have 1 1/8" steerer you know for sure it was made a few years later than 2001. But then (as from what I can see the head tube and the fork look to be 1" ilk) from what I can recall generally the lower end models got switched to 1 1/8" later than the highend models... and most steel frames remained with 1" for example MXLs to this day.

Also I might be wrong but I think back then all big name Euro brands like Colnago, Pinarello, Merckx etc mostly had only one Alum cross frame on their line up.

These alu cross frames were listed at something like $800 to under $1000 with steel forks. Yours have carbon fork...so perhaps a bit higher.
