View Full Version : Where's This Ride?

For those in 'unridable' areas of the country I introduce the "Where's This Ride" thread (already done)? Post a pic of a cool or favorite ride and see if members can guess where it is. Pic should give some clue as to where it is. or give some clues if need be. It doesn't have to be a ride around your home or even one you do frequently. Just one that sticks out and that is unique or epic. Have fun. Ride on.

Gadois

One hell of a fun climb (note the switchbacks at the bottom of the photo)
EDIT: Hints: You go from Palms to Pines on this road...

I'll go with two.
Hint: both are in the same county and have been ridden by the Team Disco boys.

OK, I know those. The first ride is also where the 7-11 team used to ride when I was in high school.

This is a stop along a very busy cycling route that is named (the stop) after one of the clubs that Chris Horner used to ride with...

We have about 3 feet of snow on the ground around these parts, snow banks look pretty much the same everywhere I ride...

I do this every sat. morning and a least twice a week as a warm up for my rides before heading south or sometimes north.
This morning I just did a loop since I have errands to do.
Homeboys let the out of towners guess.

I don't think that's Blewett pass? Looks more like it's around Stevens pass. Maybe on the Cascade Loop?

You're getting me all discombobulated. ;)

My photo, think Oregon.

Your photo, I'm sure that's North Cascades, around Washington pass? I want to say on part of the Cascade loop. My grandparents lived in Manson on lake Chelan for many years and I have driven all around those parts most of my young life and that looks very familiar.

William! Correct it is the North Cascades Highway - the final pitch up to Washington pass in the distance.

Now as for your picture, it looks familiar just not sure exactly where. In the Coast range perhaps?

It is the road going up to Sunrise, near the top. I thought the views on this ride were incredible. I would recommend going during the week as there is a lot less traffic.

Steve, you were very close. This is the highway from Palm desert over to San Diego called the Palms to Pine Highway. Apparently it is a ride Floyd Landis used to do from San Diego over and back. It is a never ending hill. I stopped early at 14 miles.

Absolutely love this thread  Especially since a lot of the Washingtoners are posting and the pictures look familiar!

Sand Fungus - I absolutely love that ride up sunrise. I used to do it almost weekly over the summer. I would drive over from Olympia to this campsite right out of elbe and ride up. Really stunning views. Can't wait to get that routine going again when I get home from university.

NorthBend - I think I drove that stretch of road coming back from a race out in Methow Valley a couple years back. Haven't ridden it, but hopefully will give it a go sometime soon.

And William I really want to know where the pictures you posted are from :crap:

Alright, :) bironi was close. That's Mary's peak just outside of Corvallis, Oregon. A ride I have done many times.....and one I miss a lot. I even had, well....hmm how should I put it? I spent some time with my girlfriend on top of that mountain.
