Sorry....
I've had the same happen a few times.
Hurts.
My current best freind is a big German Shepard name Zeus who still thinks he's a puppy and wants to sleep on my pillow at night. He's too big for that but still tries every night.

Again I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry to hear. I can't imagine what its gonna be like when our little pooch isn't there to greet us when we come in the door any longer. Its part of life, but that doesn't make it any easier when it happens...

Very sorry to hear about your loss. They become members of the family and give love unconditionally. When I lost my last one years ago I had Bailey the chocolate lab here to assist me.

When Teddy died it was the first time my two daughters ever saw me cry.

THe one I have now is also 13 years (a lab) and he helps to make me happy everyday, especially during the last months of Chemo.

Hope the memories of him make the day easier.

I feel ya.

Sushi... 12... Liver Cancer.

It's been a while and we have a pair of Corgies now and they're fantastic dogs... And both of em get called "Sushi" at least once a week.

Not sure if it's that way for others, but I've never lost a human friend that bothered me as much.

sorry for the loss. dogs are the best. if you haven't already, "the art of racing in the rain" is a great read, tho probably best for when the pain of your loss subsides some. it is very apropos of vancouverdave's comment re: another dog finding you.

Fixed, so very sorry to hear about the loss of your best friend. It's a pain that we dog owners feel very deeply and one that non-dog owners can't truly understand.
My family and I suffered a similar loss a few weeks ago when one of our two "best friends", Rio, suddenly past away.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

Others have said it - but few things hurt worse then when a beloved pet passes on.

Had a good friend who was a Minister and he always used to say that in Heaven, the Dogs are in charge and they run the place. I dunno if I believe in heaven and all that, but if its true and all then I would love to run into some of my old four-legged buddies up there. Most of the two-legged creatures I've met can all go to . . . er, I mean to say there are few people I would like to run into up there. But the Dogs (and cats, too !) - now thats a whole 'nother story.

And remember who is in charge down the road - so treat your furry friends well !

Butch,

My deepest sympathies, it's hard for me to write on this topic, my 14-year-old husky died last summer and I still have difficuly coming to terms with it. Every season and holiday feels like "the first one without Jinx." So sorry.

BTW I remembered your wife's painting fondly without even opening the link.

I lost the best dog I ever had in June. She died the weekend after my birthday; tumor in her spinal canal that finally got her. At 52 years old I can tell you it was the saddest 2 days of my life, first finding out what was wrong and then haveing to say goodbye.
A friend reccommended reading the poem "Rainbow Bridge" which helped; another gave me a copy of "Marly and Me" which is also a good read that truly captures that man / dog relationship.
It takes a while, but eventually the grief will be replaced with the fond memories of your best friend.
We are now raising a new puppy and forgot how much work that is.
I am sorry for your loss.

i'll be sure to snuggle my pup extra tonight.

In late september we got a boxer/boston terrier mix, Gretta, and she is a barrel of monkeys.

i'm so sorry for pongo, and you too. make sure to get extra hugs from those around you.

sincerely,

I know what you are feeling. we lost Orvis our chocolate dog last may after 13 yrs. I still find myself looking for him at times. We lucked into another lab and she has wormed her way into our hearts. She is not a replacement but I am immensely glad to have her.
I still haven't picked up his ashes.

No truer words spoken as it relates to my pup too. I have had a co-worker loose 2 dogs in the last year and a third was diagnosed with cancer. Can't bear to think of it.

I give my dog lots of love and it will be so hard when his time comes. Bless all our furry family members.
