Hi,

Do any of you have experience with running TA Specialites Nerius chainrings on Campy 11 (compact)? Any shifting problems? I want to install a 52/36 instead of the normal 50/34.

Thanks,
Joachim

It will work OK. Maybe not quite as quick as using a 52 ring designed to be getting the chain only from a 36, since TA doesn't know what you're shifting from. But it will work.

I know it will work better than if you used a Campy 52, designed to get the chain from a 39. (I know they don't make a 110 BCD 52 BTW).

Thanks! I'll give it go. The TA rings look good, but they don't have all the ramps and pins the Campy rings have.

The TA rings are like bike jewelry. I have a couple of the Vento's (9-10 speed 135 BCD).

Just one note of caution. I have a small parts washer (3 gallon) I use to clean bike parts. Using supposedly environmentally friendly Citrus cleaner instead of mineral spirits. The citrus cleaner cleans fine, but if left very long on highly polished aluminum parts like some TA rings, it will discolor them....giving a "milky" look that won't polish out. So now if I clean my rings in parts washer, I do it quickly, then dump quickly in warm water for a while. I learned this the painful way on a TA ring.

I love the polished TA stuff! The Nerius 11 however, is the dark, graphite color. I guess it goes well with the Campy Carbon cranks, but nothing beats the look of the old silver Record stuff.

It'll work fine, done that.
