View Full Version : Road Legal Areo clip-on bars

I've seen a couple of guys use a very short clip-on bar for their road bikes that conforms to USA Cycling rules for mass start races; however I am not able to find out who manufactures them.

The are short, go straight our from the bar level, then sharply angle back and give you just enough bar to grip.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the Profile Design Jammer aero bars.

Think the Cane Creek Speed Bars are what you've seen
http://www.diatechproducts.com/canecreek/speed_bars.html

I believe the Scott Rakes still conform as well. Have some of those in the classifieds.

The Profile Design Jammer aero bars are reg. mini aero extensions for the occassional TT but don't think they are mass start approved.

SC; I think you're right but they were the only ones I could think of that matched the description.

Bruce,
Glad you posted the Profile Jammers as I have some of 'em that were for what turned out to be a single TT. Was trying to remember what they were called. So it's been a good round already today!

I’ve been searching all over for a set of Cane Creek Speed bars. I’ve contacted Cane Creek and it’s distributor and no one has any in their old inventory. If anyone has a set and would like to sell them to me I’m willing to pay as if they are new. Please contact me stephenkchang@yahoo.com

Emailed you about some Scott Rake drop ins. Pair for $25 if they'll work for you.

Thanks for the reply. i need something USCF legal for mass starts and if i'm not mistaken only the Scott Rakes and Cane Creek Speed bars are allowed. I used to have 3 pairs of Scott Rakes but the Cane Creek Speed bars are so much more comfortable and much lighter.

A few years ago I saw film of riders in either the Giro or TDF - forget which - riding with a pair of narrow carbon blades that didn't extend past the regular bars. I don't think there was even a place to grip, if memory serves they rested their wrists on it.

Anyone else remember that? -- I assume whatever it was has been outlawed since I've not seen it since.

I might take you up on your offer. I used to have a few sets before i switch them. Let me see if anyone on the forum has a used set of speed bars they want to sell. If not i will contact you for the rakes.

This thread reminds me of the Cinelli Spinachi....

I have a pair of these packed away somewhere. I think these were mass start legal at one time. I don't know about now but when mounted almost end to end there is no chance of them hooking on anything.

I may have a set of the Cane Creek Speed Bars I'd part with. I need to check my parts bin. I know the ones I had/have fit only a 26.0mm bar. If this is what you want, let me know and I'll check to see if I still have them, or if they were sent to the recycling plant.

No problem.

Not surprised that they aren't, though I can't see why not.
