No, I was actually looking forward to Winter since I improved so much by doing Sprint 8 workouts last Winter. However a riding acquaintenance of mine sent out an email talking about the Computrainer he has had for awhile and was resurrecting from the dead. I invited myself over so Sunday morning I will ride a Computrainer for the first time. It is not in the cards for this Winter but if all goes well during the year maybe one is in the cards for next Winter.

that mini track is awesome, if i ever find myself with a super large sum of disposable cash, i would have one of those built under my garage:)

i'm just getting back into the swing of things this winter actually. generally i take november/december pretty much off, low key workouts, just enjoy family time and the holidays without worrying about fitness. i feel like it does me good to lay off for a few months a year, fatten up, and really let go of any of the worry and discipline that goes along with training. it feels good.

January is here, and i've really been getting into the rollers, i obtained my first set this year, and i'm really enjoying the challenge and the work-out. i also mix it up with at least one day of rowing and running (treadmill) per week. i may throw in a swimming day to further boost the full body fitness.

the guy who built it did it for school. I have to believe there is a good drinking game somebody could create if they wanted to. The only thing I would ask is that they bad those center columns before trying.

I rode the trainer today for the first time this winter. Yea, I'm tired of it already. I am better at suffering in the cold on my mountain bike than sitting in the basement going nowhere.

Perhaps there's a money making venture here. Paint numbers on it, and when the cyclist gets dizzy and crashes, take bets on which number he falls on. ;)

It's called the Circulus ( LA Times Article (http://articles.latimes.com/2010/may/17/local/la-me-capstone-20100517) ). It was an installation designed and built by Sam Starr as his final project as a Fine Arts major at Pomona College in Los Angeles. The project took roughly two months to build and was on display for the first two weeks of May, 2010 on the Pomona campus inside Seeley Mudd Library.

Last week, the guys at Portland Design Works (http://www.ridepdw.com) bought it to install in their offices.

Cool video but I kept being distracted by the annoying hum in it.

I'd love to try it.

I used to ride my trainer 3 nights a week for an hour. Once I got my rollers, I relegated the trainer to the garage. It hasn't been touched in at least 3 years.

Now I only ride the rollers and only when the temp is below 40 and dark. Otherwise, I'm outside.

Anyone want a Minoura Mag Turbo, cheap?

I could not ride in that space. Much too claustrophobic and the lighting so close above, I would be forced to crash into one of the four columns to end my suffering.

My old Kreitlers haven't been set up for years, one of the joys of living in CA. But have been deployed to Iraq 3X in the last 5 years -- there I ride a bike in the gym to escape the heat (and mortars). Going to D.C. for a year this July, so I'll be doing the indoor thing to avoid the cold/dark soon enough...

I just bought my first trainer and have watched TV and ridden my bike in the living room twice this week. My wife laughs at me for wearing a bike jersey but I need the rear pockets for the remote!
