I don't have an EM but almost bought one. Back in the early 90s i was trying to decide on what bike to get...whether to get an EM or a Serotta. I liked both 7-11 and Coors Lite teams. Both bikes were beautiful. Tried to analyze it all different ways. In the end, thought the serotta was prettier and Davis Phinney was cool. Went with Serotta and never looked back. Still, Eddy Merkx was great, and that would not have been a bad decision either.

An MXL (60cm) and a Strada OS (61cm), both slightly small, but I don't care.

Yes but although technically they're all mine I have only ridden the single speed Stuttgart :)

I am trying to help a Belgian friend of mine unload his huge collection of Merckx bikes. Some you see here are sold. Some of them are still for sale (including the freshly repainted Molteni).

I'd be willing to swap my 60cm MXL for a 63 or 64 in like condition. I'm open to most colors except Motorola or Molteni. I like the rare colors.

I've been fortunate to sample a number of nice bikes over the years but always seem to return to my steel Merckxs.

Why? They just have a balance to them that blends so many traits of a perfect bike. They're a no-nonsense, workman's platform that delivers precise, neutral handling, comfort, responsive acceleration, and charisma all in a single, solid package.

In my mind, they're a do it all kind of road machine. I've owned a half dozen of them over the years and each one has been the kind of bike that disappears underneath you and leaves all of the excuses for a lack of performance pinned firmly on the rider. I've thrown them into turns as hard as possible, climbed and descended legendary French and Italian Cols/Mts on them, ridden centuries, and puttered around the neighborhood with a kid's trailer attached. They took all of it in stride and didn't leave me asking for anything more (except for a better engine on the climbs...).

I love Merckx steel. Thanks Eddy!

I have a Merckx titanium bike built by Litespeed. While it is not steel, it has two very big points in it's favor. It is my size(63cm) and it is a Merckx design. Merckx definitely has a design philosophy that my aging body enjoys. Call the design philosophy "relaxed" or whatever. But, for me, it works.

Why are there no pedals on that sled? You do ride them don't you? Even museum pieces need pedals?

How come I didn't see this beauty in your "Man Cave" post?

What is that, about a 56 cm C-C seat tube? I think I can make that work.
When can I come over and ride that?

Ok, I will play too...here is my Merckx Century TSX (57cm) in Team Kelme livery. These are definitely (IMO) the best riding Merckx frames...and the sexy flat fork crown is beautiful.

I am letting this one go as I have another Century that is getting Moteni-ed at the moment.

I have not had time to post a separate ad for it yet (I don't mean to hijack this thread)...asking $750 (plus half shipping) for frame/fork/Chorus headset.

I had swapped my Keos onto another bike for a ride, my Masi Gran Crit, so the Merckx was "shoeless" when I shot this pic.

How come I didn't see this beauty in your "Man Cave" post?
I have to admit, I don't have room for my entire "obsession" in the shop so I have another space where the remainder of my rides "live".

Another one that I love is the first Merckx that I had ever seen, team ADR paint scheme. It was my friend's bike and the ride was smooth.

My 1991 TSX Century in the Team Kelme scheme.

Had fun building her a few years ago.

Have a few other bikes I ride more often, yet enjoy this one a great deal every chance I get.

I've made a few changes since I built her, but you'll get the idea.

Thanks. I like as well.

To be honest, I receive more positive comments about this bike than any of my others.

Since the pic, I have added a Campy Chorus seatpost and fresh white Fizik bar tape.

My wife wants to buy me "fancy" white leather wrap for the bars!

Also, I like Gatorskins just fine, but I am switching to Veloflex Paves and Master 22s on all of my road bikes with clinchers. Black and tan.
