I know there was a 2010 vs 2011 thread....
But just wondering, has anyone tried both? Is the shifting on the 2011 groups that much better??

No, just a wee bit 'clicky-er'. For SR/Record/Chorus. Athena and below(2011) is softer than the corresponding 2010 shifters. 'Better' is a big word. You shift, the chain moves to where you want it....both years.

Thanks. I'm thinking of getting a 2010 SR cranks, 2011 SR or Record shifters, and 2010 Record or SR everything else...

I can't speak for 2010, but the improvement I have noticed between 2009 and 2011 is super. Campy in their literature suggests that 2011 had been changed to to provide the more crips shifting that I have noticed, so my guess is 2010 is not the same as 2011 - my suggestoin is get the 2011 shifters

I have 2010 and 2011 Record. The description used above, that 2011 is a bit "clickier" seems pretty accurate in my opinion. They shift the same. One is just stiffer than the other.

i have the 1st gen 10s ultrashift ('09?), and have done the index ring change that was reputed to firm things up a bit. i noticed essentially no difference when pulling cable...still very, very soft. worse, giving cable definitely got softer!

anyone looking to sell some older 10s levers? record/chorus preferred.

I'd say that something was done wrong, or a shim washer may be needed to boot the diaphragm spring pressure. I converted mine to 11 speed and they feel just like my 11 speed Record shifters. The thumb button clicks are not light at all. I assume you verified the distinctly different shape to the detents in the disc, before installing?

FWIW, I believe that Campy is currently selling both Record and Chorus version of the old style shifters. They are shown on the 2011 spare parts list. Ribble shows them at their website, but they are currently out of stock.
