Has anyone ridden a Serotta Fierte IT? I found one at a decent price and was just wondering if anyone had any long term experience on one of these?

I bought Dave Thompson's a year ago last November - 60cm IT. Was by far my main ride this last year. Excellent bike. Not a lightweight, but a total all-round nice ride. Pretty, too. The farther you ride, the better it gets. Did several centuries with it and felt comfortable the entire way.

I love my 56cm. IT. I have had it a little over a year putting 2K miles on it.. It is a great ride and comfortable. Mine is under 17lbs w/o pedals and cages which is respectable. Enjoy it!!

Held up well, very comfortable ride.

It has hauled my fat butt around for over 10K miles and doesn't complain. I like it a lot, fits me very well, suits me fine.

I'd buy another.

I was amazed that the one on eBay didn't get one bid at $1,100 or $1,300 buy it now w/free shipping. I'm sitting on a 10 spd Chorus alloy group in the garage and was tempted but passed too. I don't ride all the bikes I have already.

I have had one for about 3 years and it is a wonderful riding bike. It rides much smoother than steel frames that I have particularly over bumps. I am one to buy and sell but no temptation to sell the IT. If you can get one at a good price go for it. I got a good deal on mine new and have not looked back.

I am a BIG fan of the Fierte IT. As Dave said it is the jr brother to the Ottrott and while I have no doubt that a custom Ottrott is the better bike of the two, the Fierte IT is a wonderful bike in its own right.

I have a custom steel Gunnar/Waterford that I really enjoy and the fit is ideal, however if I have my choice I almost allways ride the Fierte IT. It rides great and handles superbly. If it fits....get it!

A 60cm IT was my first modern road bike. It was compliant and stout at the same time. I used it to get back into the sport, on club rides, and eventually for racing. It wasn't well-suited to racing -- makes you sit up to high -- so I sold it on the forum. If you want a very upright position and can get a decent price, you won't go wrong. Like all Serotta products, it's extremely high quality.

I bid on it and he canceled the auction about 12hours before it was scheduled to end.

I had the first version of the Ottrott in '02 and a 2006 Fierte Ti. The Fierte was outstanding as was the Ottrott. I have no doubt that the Fierte IT is a tremendous bike.

I picked mine up in 2009 as a NOS frame/fork. I built it and rode it a few times, then promptly sold my Atlanta (which I hadn't planned to do). For club, charity, centuries for this 50 something non-racer it is a great ride. I put more than 5k miles on it since last September.

I had a friend who had one and absolutely loved it.
